OVERVIEW | The RamSan-440 is a new solid state disk with record high performance, record high capacity for a RAM-based system, and a combination of features that help ensure the highest availability of data to its users. The RamSan-440 is the world’s first non-volatile RAM-based SSD to sustain up to 600,000 IOPS (input/outputs per second) and deliver up to 512GB of storage capacity in a 4U rack-mount chassis. It’s also the first SSD to use RAIDed NAND Flash storage modules for data backup, and the first system to incorporate Texas Memory Systems’ patented IO2 (Instant-On Input-Output) technology. Solid state disks, like Texas Memory Systems’ RamSan-440, allow organizations to manage very high transaction volumes and larger numbers of concurrent users with fewer servers, less power, and without excessive application tuning, thus increasing performance while lowering cost and administration efforts. RamSan solid state disks are used in the financial, telecom, e-commerce, and online-gaming industries, as well as government, military, and research organizations for online transaction processing, data warehousing, and batch processing. Typically, solid state disks are deployed alongside traditional storage. The RamSan-440 uses DDR2 (double-data-rate) RAM to deliver 600,000 sustained random IOPS and over 4GB/second of sustained random read or write bandwidth, with latency of less than 15 microseconds. It is available in 256GB and 512GB configurations in a 4U chassis. The system can be SAN-attached or direct attached through up to eight 4Gb/second Fibre Channel ports. Multiple RamSan-440s can be combined to scale performance and capacity. The RamSan-440 uses RAID protected Flash memory modules to rapidly back up the RAM-based data and ensure non-volatility for the system. In Active Backup mode, the RamSan-440 continuously backs up data to the internal redundant Flash modules without impacting system performance. The RamSan-440 can back up or restore the entire 512GB of data in just six minutes. Texas Memory Systems’ patented IO2 technology further improves system availability by making user or application-requested data instantly accessible after the system is powered on. It is the first SSD unit to use Flash memory as the backup media. This dramatically decreases the amount of time it takes to back up the data in the event of power loss. It also dramatically increases the recovery and start up times. Performance TMS’ numerous customers have seen real world increases from 2x to 25x simply by installing a single RamSan. The RamSan-440 can accelerate numerous applications across industries. It is best known for drastic performance gains in OLTP, batch processing, and other intensive operations. The RamSan plugs into servers or fabrics through basic Fibre Channel. It appears simply as a very, very fast disk to the network, able to act as any disk or storage system might. Reliability There is no tradeoff in reliability for performance. The RamSan-440 includes RAIDed RAM boards for primary storage, hot swappable power supplies, and three independent internal batteries (N+1) to ensure that no power loss or power supply failure will stop the RamSan from performing its internal backup procedures to RAID protected Flash memory modules. Redundant cooling fans and redundant data ports are also part of the sophisticated design. RAID Protection for RAM and Flash Memory Modules The RamSan-440 protects both the primary storage (RAM) and the backup storage media (Flash) by using RAIDed configurations. The RamSan-440 protects the primary RAM storage media with RAIDed RAM-boards. As part of the RAID protection for each bank of memory there is one set of memory cards that stores parity data. The RamSan-440 protects the Flash storage media with RAIDed Flash modules. If a Flash module fails, a parity module will provide data protection. The Flash modules are used when the RamSan loses power; the data residing on the RAM is transferred to the Flash storage so that data is not lost. By using RAIDed Flash modules, the data is protected from a Flash module failure during a power loss. Chipkill Technology The RamSan-440 takes reliability even further by implementing IBM Chipkill technology. Standard error correcting code (ECC) implementations correct single-bit data errors in memory chips but cannot correct the multi-bit errors that can result in data integrity issues. Chipkill technology allows a memory system to correct a multi-bit failure up to and including a total chip failure. Combining Chipkill and RAIDed memory boards brings unprecedented memory protection for an SSD. The RamSan-440 has 648 GBs of raw memory capacity that is presented as 512 GBs of usable capacity after these protection levels. Soft Error Scrubbing All solid state disks can correct a single bit error before sending data to the server as a part of their ECC protection. The RamSan-440, however, goes a step further by scrubbing; re-writing the corrected data to memory and then verifying the re-write to determine if a memory chip has a failure (a hard error) or if radiation transients caused the single bit error (a soft error). Systems that do not scrub single bit memory errors will either a) report errors to a system log that will eventually encourage replacement of a memory board or b) hide these errors, thus leaving a potentially unsafe memory board in the system. Research on this topic suggests that 90% of single bit errors are soft errors. In these cases, the RamSan-440 will correct the error through the scrubbing process and prevent unnecessary downtime to replace the memory board. Interoperability The RamSan is designed to look like a disk to the network. Therefore, it is highly interoperable and works in virtually any enterprise environment. It is installed in numerous environments including: AIX, Solaris, Linux, Windows, Tru64, OpenVMS, and HP-UX. Hardware from Fibre Channel vendors including Emulex, Brocade, Mellanox, QLogic and LSI Logic easily interoperate with the RamSan. Manageability The RamSan-440 includes the most management features of any solid state disk. Administrators can manage the RamSan over the network or by directly connecting to the unit. The RamSan can be fully configured and monitored from either a Telnet or a browser. The front panel displays system status and allows basic management functionality as well. Optional Feature: Active Backup Exclusive to the RamSan is Active Backup® software. Other SSDs and cache systems only "de-stage" data from RAM to backup media once power is already lost. This means that data is never backed up during normal operation and the time to complete backup after power loss is unacceptably long. A RamSan-440 with Active Backup can continuously back up data on RAM to the internal Flash storage modules without impacting performance. This means in an emergency situation, data is anywhere from 60-100% saved to the Flash modules already. Optional Feature: IO2 (Instant-On Input Output) IO2 is a patented Texas Memory Systems technology and an optional feature that allows transactions to be processed while data restores from the Flash memory modules to the RAM storage. This means that after a RamSan is powered on, production does not have to wait for a full restore to take place. IO2 provides the highest availability by allowing transactions to be processed before the data restore is complete. Using the high bandwidth Flash storage designed by Texas Memory Systems as the backup media allows the RamSan-440 to back up 512GB in less than six minutes. Other SSD units can take up to two hours to back up the same amount of data. The Flash backup, Active Backup, and IO2 features offered only by the RamSan cut shutdown and restore times to a small fraction of other SSDs. Optional Feature: Terawatch For customers who have multiple units, we offer Terawatch, an optional software feature that allows management of multiple RamSans from a single management console. Terawatch is a part of the same management software program used to manage the RamSans individually; therefore no additional training is required to run Terawatch. Optional Feature: DataStat-Archive DataStat-Archive is an optional firmware feature for the RamSan-440 that provides performance information that allows users to identify the I/O, bandwidth, and latency metrics for any given period of time over the past year. Using this feature makes it easier for customers to plan and organize their use of resources. Optional Feature: E-mail Alert Email Alert is an optional feature of the RamSan that will send an email in the event of a change in system status. How to Run Multiple Yahoo! Messenger Accounts on Your PC

If you are wondering how to run multiple Yahoo! Messenger accounts within the same PC, here’s how it can be done by just applying a simple registry hack.

1. Go to Start > Run.
2. In the Run box, type regedit and click OK button to launch the Registry Editor.
3. Now, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Yahoo > Pager > Test.
4. On the right pane, right click , choose New > DWORD value.



5. Rename the new registry key as Plural.



6. Double click on the “Plural” registry key and assigns Digits as the value data as much Messengers you want to run at one time.

Now, you can login to multiple Yahoo! Messenger accounts on your PC. If you want to login to two YM accounts, you will need to launch the application twice in order to get two login screens.

To disable or cancel this hack, just proceed and delete the “Plural” registry key.

Guide to convert SATA Drivers into Windows XP Bootable CD - Using Nlite Slipstreaming XP Guide If Windows XP Setup is not detecting Your Hard Disk Dri

Windows XP does not support most of the latest SATA-RAID and SATA- AHCI drives. To make windows xp find your hard disk you need to integrate SATA drivers in windows XP setup. The process is called Slipstreaming.

Slipstreaming SATA Drivers

Most of us don’t have floppy drives in our laptops these days. To integrate SATA drivers through slipstreaming into Windows XP bootable CD you can use nLite. That will make your hard disk recognized.

Instructions:

1. Extracted SATA drivers(if you are using Intel chipset Intel 82801GR/GH, 631xESB/632xESB, 82801GHM, ICH8R/ICH9R, 82801HEM SATA RAID Controller, Please download the SATA drivers from your manufacturer website.

2.Download nLite here. You need to use it for slipstreaming.

Guide for Slipstreaming

1. Make a new folder, name it “Win XP” and copy the content of Windows XP CD into this folder.

2. Download the intel SATA drivers.The file name is “Floppy Configuration Utility”.

3. If you have already downloaded extracted drivers then Jump on Step 10.

4. Now extract the downloaded SATA driver file. You can see a green icon “f6flpy32″.

5. Please extract the green file “f6flpy32″ and you will get a file with .IMA extension.

6. Browse the folder “f6flpy32″ using WinImage (download here) and then select the .IMA extension file.

7. You will see all the SATA driver files. Extract all the SATA Driver files to any folder(I name it “SATA driver” on my desktop) select all and extract.”.

8. Extract all files into the same folder

9. The Folder will looks like below if you open the SATA driver” folder.

10. Run nLite, click Next.

11. Now you need to locate the Windows folder it’s “WinXp”.

12. Click Next on “Presets” and next again.

13. Select “Drivers” and “Bootable ISO in “Task Selection” and click on Next.

14. Select “Insert” - ”Single driver”.

15. Using WinImage browse to the SATA driver folder and select either one of the .INF file.

16. “Textmode driver” screen will pop. Select all of them by holding CTRL+A key and click on “OK”.

17. Click “Next” you will get a prompt.

18. Click “Yes” and start the process.

19. When it finishes click “Next”.

20. Create this as ISO image or burn it directly to CD-R under “Mode”. If you select “Burn” you will be prompted.

21. Click “Yes” to burn it to CD-R. When finish Click “Next”

22. Click on “Finish”

23. Please boot your computer with this cd.
24. Make sure you follow all the steps above then you can Install Windows XP smoothly.
